You’ve seen “The Producers,” right? No, I don’t speak of the musical, but Mel Brooks’ original classic movie. Remember that famous scene where Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder climb into Lincoln Center’s fountain. Ever since I first glimpsed the shimmering water on that screen, I looked forward to the day that I’d be able to see it first hand. Unfortunately, by the time I moved to New York, Lincoln Center was undergoing extensive renovations, and its famous fountain was boarded up for a little plastic surgery itself.
As I walked uptown the other day to take some additional holiday photos, I came upon Lincoln Center with the intent of checking out their decorations. I was quite surprised to see that the fountain had been completely redesigned into a gleaming central beacon that can easily be spotted from across the street!
The new fountain, which was designed by the same folks who designed the famed dancing fountains at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, is awfully photogenic, particularly when paired with the Metropolitan Opera House in the background! Check out my photos below!
