Say What?? Travel Photo: Wholesome Toys
China is a nice, wholesome, family oriented society, right? I’d venture to say that they have the world’s largest number of spoiled brats, considering the exceptional number of sibling-less children.
What I definitely picked up on during my collective two months in the “middle kingdom” was that sex is a taboo subject. Case in point, the story of a Chinese man who was arrested for organizing swingers parties!
Given this history, I was quite surprised to spot the following sign:
“Sex Tyos.” This potentially explosive phrase is just thrown right out there (misspellings and all). And of all the craziest places, this sign comes from Dali, a town which I dubbed to have been subject to the “Disneyfication” of old China!
I racked my brain trying to figure out what the target here was? I mean, Dali is a big tourist spot with Chinese tour groups, though many don’t spend the night…
Well, I’ll leave the details to your imagination. And no, I did not go into the store to discover if it in fact sold sex toys!
