Say What Travel Photo: Falling Snow

"Be careful of slippery. The careful roof falls the snow."

Behold…the following conundrum: “Be careful of slippery The careful roof falls the snow.” Read between the lines and you’ll see that they are in fact trying to tell you something along the lines of, “Be careful of a slick surface and the snow may fall off the roof.” Is the roof careful because when snow falls off of it, it lands outside of someone’s path? Or is the roof careful because it ensures a blizzard of snow doesn’t fall down…

Either way, this sign was found in front of a Buddhist temple, one of dozens that are scattered all over Emei Shan, one of China’s 4 Buddhist peaks which I had the true pleasure of hiking up. In fact, the temple in question was found at the mountain’s “Golden Summit,” the reward of my 1.5 day hike.

Of course, the hike was a goldmine for signs, some of which have been previously featured in this series as they discussed both suicide and fire prevention.

Say What?? is a thrice weekly series featuring numerous hilarious signs from my travels. Check back every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for updates! Or better yet, subscribe to my RSS feed to receive them automatically!
