NYC Holiday Magic: Bryant Park

You know how they say the holidays are “the most wonderful time of the year?” Well, here in New York City, the period between Thanksgiving and New Year’s is one of the most magical! This is when the city puts on its best face as it gushes on its holiday charm, and it is a bit of a tradition on the blog that the past few years that I’ve highlighted some of that holiday magic! This year is no exception, so please enjoy!

A mere block from the chaos of Times Square sits a place of utter serenity, an oasis amidst the plethora of surrounding skyscrapers. This is Bryant Park, effectively the backyard for the incredibly ornate main branch of the New York Public Library. A master chameleon, Bryant Park continuously transforms itself, serving as the past home of New York Fashion Week (which has since moved uptown to Lincoln Center, showing free films during the summer and boasting a free ice skating rink in the winter (pictured above).

Though it may be small, Bryant Park packs a whole lot of charm, especially at this time of year. The holidays market is set up, the Christmas tree illuminated, and the skaters whiz by, flanked by a temporary gourmet restaurant. It is at once a vision of what some people may consider New York excess (or is it elite?) and part of what makes this city great!

Bryant Park is, without a doubt, one of my favorite places in the city, especially right now!

When I'm not blissfully on the road, I reside in New York City, where I become the ultimate travel junkie and spend my days dreaming up my next great adventure! Read More...
