NYC Holiday Magic: Snowflakes & Stars (VIDEO)

You’ve all heard of Saks Fifth Avenue, right? Well that name has to come from somewhere, right? That’s right folks! Saks Fifth Avenue is located on…Fifth Avenue! In fact, if you go visit the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, you can simply turn around and look towards Fifth Avenue and you’ll see this:

Saks Fifth Avenue Snowflakes

That is the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship (and namesake, for that matter), all dolled up for the holidays. Recently, they’ve switched to using projected snowflakes from the former actual electric snowflakes that lined the building in years past. As such, the routine is a bit different now, which you can see in the video below.

Go a little ways uptown and you’ll eventually encounter this at the southwest corner of Central Park:

Statue of Columbus at Columbus Circle

Yes, that’s Columbus Circle, aptly named for the fellow featured in that statue, Christopher Columbus. But it’s what’s at Columbus Circle that brings us up here. To be exact, a mini shopping mall–The Shops at Columbus Circle, located on the lower levels of the Time Warner Center.

Believe it or not, there is more to see here than just the massive Whole Foods on the lower level. Yes, this upscale mini mall gives itself a healthy dose of holiday charm as well. Just look up and see the stars!

Columbus Circle Stars

As an annual holiday tradition, you can come view these starts that illumniate themselves in brilliant colors “dance” along with music from the holidays. And by that I mean they put on a little light show. Check it out in the video below and let me know what you think!

When I'm not blissfully on the road, I reside in New York City, where I become the ultimate travel junkie and spend my days dreaming up my next great adventure! Read More...
