Say What??

One of the true joys of traveling in a foreign country are those English signs that kind of make you say, “What??” You know the type…things that really don’t make a whole lot of sense in English or even some that do, but make you chuckle.

A lot has been written about these signs lately, particularly with the Chinese government’s attempts to correct Shanghai’s notoriously bad “Chinglish” signs in the lead up to the World Expo.

But these signs are, of course, not just limited to China. Lonely Planet publishes a series of humorous photo books featuring funny signs from around the world! These include: Signspotting,Signspotting 2,Signspotting IIIand even 2011 Day-to-Day Calendar!

Early on in my travels, I started a photo collection of these wacky signs which I would just love to share with you! So I’m starting a new thrice-weekly series called “Say What??” Check back for updates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And here’s today’s entry to get us started! This comes to us from Vientiane, Laos. Enjoy!

When I'm not blissfully on the road, I reside in New York City, where I become the ultimate travel junkie and spend my days dreaming up my next great adventure! Read More...
