Say What?? Travel Photo: Dangerous Bank

The Chinese metropolis of Guangzhou (formerly known as Canton) was my first stop in “real” China. Sure, I started my travels in Hong Kong, a “first world” city that bears little in common with the mainland due to it’s colonial background. Guangzhou hence also marked my first encounter with the phenomenon known as “Chinglish,” or the Chinese-mangling of English-language signs. Sure, I’d seen the “Free Duty” shop at the train station in Hong Kong, but that was merely a taste of things to come!

Cue today’s “Say What??” photo; a simple sign along the bank of a pond in a park. It struck me so, I simply had to photograph it. After all…water is dangerous, so make sure you “keep danger away!”

Say What?? is a thrice weekly series featuring numerous hilarious signs from my travels. Check back every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for updates! Or better yet, subscribe to my RSS feed to receive them automatically!
