Friday Five: My Favorite Travel Blog Posts

Earlier this week, I left a little tease about exciting things to come here on Aaron’s Worldwide Adventures. Today, I am happy to announce a brand new weekly feature: The Friday Five.

Just what are these Friday Five? Well, I read a lot of other travel blogs and my fellow adventurers write about some pretty awesome things, be them incredible places, great stories or fascinating food for thought. Every Friday, I’d like to share with you some of my favorite posts from the past week!

So, without further ado, I give you the very first Friday Five!

Photo Essay: Unreal Antarctica

Dustin, the Skinny Backpacker (who is currently en route from Buenos Aires to Sweden), went to Antarctica and he’s got some truly stunning photos to show for it. It seriously makes me want to get on a plane this second and head down there!

Responsibly Irresponsible

In this curiously titled post, Gillian over at One Giant Step writes about attempting to fulfill her travel itch while being stuck at home. She details her new plan which she’s titled “Responsibly Irresponsible,” as a way of taking small steps towards traveling again!

Morals & Ethics of Travel Photography: When Shouldn’t You Take That Photo?

Lisa from Chicky Bus asks some very thought provoking questions in her latest post, laying out a variety of scenarios one might encounter traveling and asking the readers to weigh in on what they would do in each of those situations. She’s sparked a wonderful discussion and the article is definitely some healthy food for thought!

The First Time I Almost Died-Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Todd of Todd’s Wanderings recounts his truly riveting (and frightening) story about being caught in a hurricane while out at sea in Vietnam’s stunning Ha Long Bay. This is a storm that killed 70 other people but spared his boat due to the captain’s wise decision to take an alternate route. And his story has one huge moral. Don’t be a bad tourist! Read it to see why!

Photo Essay: The Magical Landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey

Nicole and Cameron over at Traveling Canucks have highlighted the other-worldly landscapes of this UNESCO World Heritage Site in Turkey, where truly unreal rock formation rise majestically out of the desert floor, nestling among them a small town that almost blends into the natural world!

When I'm not blissfully on the road, I reside in New York City, where I become the ultimate travel junkie and spend my days dreaming up my next great adventure! Read More...
