Welcome to “Say What??,” my ongoing series of signage from around the world that makes you scratch your head and say, “What??” Today’s, “Say What??” is coming to you on a brand new day to coincide with a little Twitter tradition called #TravelTuesday (quick plug: If you find me on Twitter (@adventurousness), say hi!).
Today’s photo comes from a little city called Dali. It’s a tourist hot spot in the Chinese province of Yunnan, one which I dubbed to feel “Disney-fied” on my initial visit last May.
It’s hard to tell in the photo above, but those stone streets are in fact shaped cement…what is this? Las Vegas?
Anyways, like any major tourist destination, it is chock full of stores, some of which have very creative titles. Like this one:
Now, I couldn’t tell you what this store sells, but for something called the “Tweny Years Old Shop,” you kind of gotta wonder… I mean, “Tweny” could be “Tweeny” or “Tweens.” But “Tween Year Old” doesn’t really make any sense. Unkes…do you think if could be “Twenty Year Old?”
So then is the shop selling stuff for tweens? Or 20 year olds? Or maybe the shop is 20 yeard old. Or maybe they have some twenty year olds you can buy? Wait………
