Happy Blogiversary!

One year ago today I launched the all new version of my humble blog. It was a momentous transition for me, as my personal blog of 3.5 years made the leap to primetime. What was once on Blogger was now on WordPress, in a (mostly) painless transition. This blog you’re reading today builds upon that history.

It all began in the Thai seaside resort town of Hua Hin. I was a college student spending a semester abroad there and was just settling in for classes. My brother suggested that I replace the regular emails I was sending my family about what I was doing with a blog on which I could share pictures.

And so I began by posting those inital email recaps of my activities. Those posts, including subsequent ones from my semester in Thailand, can still be found in the archives of this site, though I must warn you, my writing has come a very long way since then.

I returned to the U.S. to finish school and put my blog down for a while. After all, I wasn’t traveling anymore, so why did I need a blog?

It wasn’t long after I had graduated and moved to New York City that I picked it back up again. After all, this is such a fascinating place that I was never sarching for new content!

But as I started planning my 2010 Asian Adventure, I knew I wanted my blog to be more. Inspired by a host of visible travel blogs out there, I purchased a domain and a theme and set out to transform my little blog into something new. I would refocuse myself as travel-oriented and never look back!

A year later, here I am! So Happy Blogiversary! I’ve certainly made leaps and bounds in the past year and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in the next 12 months!

Finally, I know you’ve come to expect an amusing photo from me, so here ya go! A special billboard from the Chinese city of Kunming, capital of the Yunnan province!
