You know, when I started this series of amusing signs, my intention was to use signs from my travels abroad. After all, here in he U.S. all the signs make perfect sense because we’re all native English speakers, right? Well, not quite…
When I decided to take to the so-called Chinatown Bus from NYC to Washington DC over Labor Day weekend, it didn’t occur to me that I would spot any sign gems. But along the bus ride, I couldn’t help but notice this sign. No, not the “No Drinking from Cups on the Bus” part, the little ripped sign underneath it:
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. I mean, Chinatown bus…Chinese immigrants hailing from the land of the infamous “Chinglish” signs filled with mangled English…
Still…”Not Responsible for Any Losing Article.” Yes, I realize that Chinese lacks grammar and tenses, but this still put a smile on my face. After all, who knew that all I needed to do to spot a funny sign was to board a domestic bus?
