As Spotted on the Subway NYC

As Heard on the Subway

MetroCardMy apologies. I realize it’s been almost a week since my last post but I’ve been extraordinarily busy (in a good money-making way) which has made for some very, very long days. More on all that later.

In the meantime, I figured I’d start a spin-off from my “As Spotted on the Subway” series. You see, the Subway, being the great melting pot of NYC (heck even our Mayor Michael Bloomberg rides the Subway), is also a great forum for hearing strange things. I had two instances of that today to inaugurate this series with:

As heard on a C train at 59th St/Columbus Circle, an older female tourist complaining loudly because someone had asked her to move from her position blocking the train door (hmm I wonder why). She was going on and on about how rude New Yorkers were and sat down next to me. I couldn’t help but notice that she also reeked of alcohol (umm…as Smelled on the Subway?)!

Then later on an A train around 42nd St/Port Authority, an off-duty UPS guy was walking past me to head into the next train when someone sitting across the door from me asked him, “Hey! Where’s my package???” and then started laughing hysterically at himself. The UPS guy stopped, glared at him for a few seconds, and then was on his way. As his friend commented, it was a pretty low joke and the poor guy probably gets it all the time!

Alas, I didn’t overhear anything of interest on either of the other three trains I took today (the F the 1 and the 6…just in case you were keeping track).

When I'm not blissfully on the road, I reside in New York City, where I become the ultimate travel junkie and spend my days dreaming up my next great adventure! Read More...
