You know what a monopoly is, right? No, I don’t mean the board game! I mean a monopoly in the business world. I can’t say that I spend that much time thinking about monopolies (say for the various news blurbs that dart around about how various tech companies are being investigated for this exact purpose). But somehow I don’t know if the idea of a monopoly translates all that well to China’s brand of communism.
Monopoly? China? Confused? Just ask the owner of this tobacco shop in touristy Lijiang, China (if you’re watching the current season of “The Amazing Race,” it was one of the cities they visited a couple of episodes ago).
