As Spotted on the Subway NYC

As, uh, Smelled on the Subway

MetroCardHomeless people riding the trains (and not just walking through looking for money) are a somewhat normal sight. They can usually be identified because they are usually sprawled out sleeping, look grungy, and occasionally have a lot of stuff.

Well, today I got on my train and that particular car reeked of rotten fish mixed with urine. I spotted a few empty seats on the other side of the car and sat down and quickly realized why it smelled of urine. Across from me was a homeless person (couldn’t even tell the gender) who was sleeping and had pretty much moved into that corner of the Subway car. There was food trash strewn around the person and I’m pretty sure that was the source of the urine smell as well.

Normally I’ll sit through anything on the train but I just couldn’t take the smell and at the next stop I moved to the next car. Just when you think you’ve seen everything, leave it NYC to come up with a new fastball for ya.

When I'm not blissfully on the road, I reside in New York City, where I become the ultimate travel junkie and spend my days dreaming up my next great adventure! Read More...
